In essence, the job of a graphic designer is to create visuals (either by hand or using software (such as Design, Illustrator and Photoshop) to attract the attention of the consumer. These designs may be for websites, brochures, billboards, magazines, corporate reports or flyers, amongst a multitude of others. They may use various techniques involving fonts, colours and visuals to convey the message. It is the graphic designer’s job is to listen to the brief of their client, and bring that vision to life. Once the design has been brought to life, it will be either published on a website or printed, and this is where the where the job of a printing designer will come in. A printing designer will work closely with a graphic designer to complete the message. Graphic design and printing jobs are often closely intertwined, as they both require a lot of creativity and attention to detail to complete the vision of the client. The printing element of graphic design is almost as important as the design itself. Publishing on a website is one thing, but printing is another as the experience of reading something on a computer screen is entirely different to actually holding something in your hands. It is the job of the printers to also take into consideration the texture of the paper, the quality of the ink, and other elements such as margins and alignment. They may also use different techniques such as embossing. On a day to day basis, a graphic designer may be meeting with clients, taking briefs, or completing designs. It is normal that a graphic designer will be working with various clients at any given time, regardless of whether they are working independently for an agency or as a freelancer. A graphic designer will work closely with the marketing department and must have good communication skills in order to understand the brief that the client gives them . Graphic designers and the marketing department will also work closely with the printing designer. It is likely that an established graphic designer will have a preferred printing partner who in turn can fulfil the requirements of the graphic designer and assist in completing the vision, so that it is ready for the eyes of the consumer.

International companies may hire an interior designer and decorator to style their offices in a manner that fits the culture of the company in order to give off a good impression. To become an interior designer and decorator does not necessarily require a degree, but some form of education such as community college may be considered as beneficial. One of the objectives of an interior designer is to build a good portfolio which demonstrates their work. As the career of an interior designer interior designer takes form, it is probable that they will develop a niche or a specialisation, for example the style of colonial housing and modern condominiums will vary greatly. It is the interior designers job to communicate with the client in order to ascertain their needs, and then work out a plan, and execute it. After completing their education, an interior designer and decorator will do an internship, most likely with an accomplished interior designer so that they may learn from them. Following this, they will learn their craft and slowly take on more responsibility. They may then go out on their own or form a partnership with other interior designers. Whether it be a room, a house or a whole office block it is key that an interior designer completes the project to a high standard, as much of career growth relied on reputation and word of mouth. Once an interior designer has established a reputation, it is a wonderful career as not only can it be quite lucrative, and they may pick and choose clients as they wish.
